Kinbaku (intimate binding with rope), sometimes referred to as Shibari (tying) is an erotic art form originating in Japan. It has a powerful emotional impact and allows us to explore catharsis, erotic intensity, and connection. This deep sense of connection can be very a transformative experience. I have been working with Kinbaku since 2005 and offer guidance in the form of private tuition for couples or larger groupings.
My own background has led me to train with some of the best teachers in the UK, as well as the privately training in Japan with Kinbaku Masters Naka Akira and Kazami Ranki. My approach with my own teaching is to focus on Japanese aesthetics,
I am drawn to Japanese Zen philosophy and practice, and also have a background in various martial arts. I draw upon these in how I approach tying and working with the body. The spiritual blended with the erotic and more intense emotional aspects of tying are central for me. I find notions from Japanese philosophy like wabi sabi and the erotic blend to form the basis of my aesthetic and spiritual style.
Overall my focus is on the spiritual aspects of tying, and how connection can be explored and built.
